Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.

We are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic). They can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision, continuing to learn additional skills and techniques. A successful Technician II complies with all policies and meets high performance metrics.

DUTIES:

  1. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  2. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  3. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using test instruments like handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  4. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  5. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate solutions using sound judgment.
  6. Manage parts inventory and equipment on the service truck, perform periodic reconciliation.
  7. Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
  8. Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
  9. Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  10. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  11. Document work performed, parts used, and observations using company devices and applications.
  12. Complete DOT and other forms accurately and timely.
  13. Work independently, managing daily schedules.
  14. Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
  15. Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
  16. Communicate with management regarding repair estimates, purchase orders, and findings.
  17. Follow safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  18. Maintain the service truck, conduct safety checks, and inspections.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
  3. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  4. Pass DOT background screening and physical; current DOT medical card preferred.
  5. Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate regulations.
  6. Valid driver’s license and clean 3-year MVR review.

Certifications to Obtain Within 18 Months:

  • ASE T8 (PMI)

Preferred Certifications:

  • ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, 608/609
