We are currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level I. The Mobile Diesel Technician I will perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, and other duties as assigned. Under supervision, they can perform more advanced repairs, assist higher-level technicians, and continue developing mechanical and diagnostic skills. Work is regularly audited for quality, and high performance metrics and policy compliance are expected.
DUTIES:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, and meet expectations.
- Prioritize and manage concurrent tasks efficiently.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards, upload pictures, and complete repair orders using company devices and applications.
- Complete DOT and other documentation accurately and timely.
- Work independently, manage daily schedule, and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Procure parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Coordinate with management via email or phone for approvals, purchase orders, and notes.
- Follow safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Maintain the service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily inspections.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED and up to 2 years’ related experience.
- Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- OEM training and certifications preferred.
- Complete all required company training.
- Must pass DOT pre-employment background screening and physical; a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining may suffice temporarily.
- At least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
- Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Required within 18 months of hire; preferred certifications listed separately.
