Job summary

Jobtailor in Fort Worth, TX, seeks an experienced mobile diesel mechanic to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial tractors and trailers while delivering reliable service on-site or on the road.

You will write detailed work orders, perform preventative maintenance, inspect and replace parts including tires, and compile inspection reports for management. The role requires 12-hour shifts and an on-call rotation, with a strong commitment to safety, integrity, and quality.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience as an experienced mobile diesel mechanic.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial tractors and trailers.
• Experience inspecting and repairing semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance for fleet semi-trucks and trailers.
• Ability to maintain, adjust, and replace hubs and axles.
• Ability to inspect, service, and replace tractor and trailer parts, including tires.
• Knowledge of brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to test systems and equipment for performance issues.
• Knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements.
• Ability to write detailed work orders and compile inspection reports.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and participate in an on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair customers’ commercial tractors and trailers
• Write detailed work orders for mobile road calls and in-yard work
• Provide quality customer service
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components
• Perform preventative maintenance on fleet semi-trucks and trailers
• Maintain hubs and axles and adjust or replace them when required
• Inspect, service, and replace tractor and trailer parts, including tires
• Check and repair brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Test systems and equipment for performance issues
• Ensure trailers meet U.S. Department of Transportation road safety requirements
• Compile inspection reports, document repairs, and report findings to management
• Respond to client queries as soon as possible
• Work 12-hour shifts with an on-call rotation while remaining available for service calls
