Job summary

G&Z TRANSPORT LLC seeks a Diesel Mechanic to service diesel trucks and trailers across multiple service areas. You will perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs as directed by the Maintenance Manager, manage tool inventory, and handle paperwork daily.

Responsibilities include scheduled repairs, road calls, and after-hours service. Physical work, lifting, and driving are required; a clean DMV record is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience with diesel truck and trailer repair, maintenance, and diagnostics.
• Must provide sufficient tool inventory to perform job duties.
• Ability to do mechanical repairs.
• Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting 50+ lbs., and working in varied conditions.
• Must have a clean DMV printout — No moving violations.

Responsibilities

• Receive direction from Maintenance Manager and Fleet/Dispatch teams.
• Perform scheduled and instructed repairs and maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Keep service truck clean and stocked; manage paperwork daily (bring own tools).
• Conduct emergency roadside repairs, including after-hours calls; respond to service requests.
• Inspect and diagnose trucks/equipment, monitor fluids and safety equipment.

Description

Travel to work sites and provide maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services for diesel vehicles and equipment such as trailers to include but are not limited to engine services, brake service, engine diagnosis, inspections, cooling system service, etc. Most common service calls include scheduled services and repairs, breakdown response, DOT inspections, PM services.

JOB DUTIES:

• Receive direction Maintenance Manager along with the Fleet and Dispatch departments.
• Perform instructed and scheduled repair, maintenance, and services as needed on various vehicles and equipment as instructed by the Maintenance Manager.
• Maintain service truck in a professional manner.
• Stock and maintain service truck inventory, tool collection, and all necessary paperwork daily (candidate to provide own tools)
• Make emergency roadside repairs; at times after-hours; carry, monitor and answer company issued cellphone for after hour service calls.
• Identifies and designates problems.
• Check safety equipment on truck and/or equipment.
• Inspects trucks and/or equipment, for condition, operation, parts and fluid levels.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience with diesel truck and trailer repair, maintenance, and diagnostics
• Must be able to provide sufficient tool inventory to perform job duties.
• Ability to do mechanical repairs.
• Physical requirements include standing, bending, lifting (50+ lbs.), and sitting for long periods of time in varied temperatures and weather conditions.
• Must have a clean DMV printout -- No moving violations.
• Valid Driver's License.
• High attendance and punctuality requirement.
• Must have neat, legible handwriting.
• Must be flexible with your duties, which will include repairs, oil changes, parts run, etc.

OPTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Welding experience
• Class A or B license
• Bilingual -- English / Spanish

SERVICE AREAS: Brighton, CO and surrounding areas, Douglas, WY, Vernal, UT, & Farmington, NM (we provide service truck)

HOURS: Rotating Schedule 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM* Additional overtime based on business needs
