FCSA is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician who will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The technician can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision and continues to learn additional skills. A successful technician complies with all company policies and achieves high performance metrics.

DUTIES:

1. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
2. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
3. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment such as aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, and brake chambers.
4. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment and trailer systems, including welding and fabrication when necessary.
5. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
6. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
7. Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate solutions.
8. Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation.
9. Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
10. Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
11. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and allocate time effectively.
12. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
13. Document work performed, parts used, and observations using company standards and tools.
14. Complete DOT and other forms accurately and timely.
15. Work independently and manage daily schedule.
16. Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
17. Obtain parts from vendors as needed for repairs.
18. Communicate with management and support team for approvals and discussions.
19. Perform all work adhering to safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
20. Maintain company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and daily inspections.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Possess and supply necessary hand tools.
3. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
4. Obtain 608/609 certifications within 18 months.
5. Pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and physical.
6. Valid DOT medical card or valid DOT physical within 4 months of expiration.
7. Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
8. Valid driver’s license, able to obtain and maintain DQF, and eligible to drive under DOT requirements.

Preferred Certifications:

• ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, A8, L1
