FCSA is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician who will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The technician can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under supervision and continues to learn additional skills. A successful technician complies with all company policies and achieves high performance metrics.
DUTIES:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment such as aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, and brake chambers.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment and trailer systems, including welding and fabrication when necessary.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate solutions.
- Manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Work with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work, and allocate time effectively.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work performed, parts used, and observations using company standards and tools.
- Complete DOT and other forms accurately and timely.
- Work independently and manage daily schedule.
- Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from vendors as needed for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support team for approvals and discussions.
- Perform all work adhering to safety, health, environmental policies, and regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Maintain company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and daily inspections.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possess and supply necessary hand tools.
- Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Obtain 608/609 certifications within 18 months.
- Pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and physical.
- Valid DOT medical card or valid DOT physical within 4 months of expiration.
- Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate commerce regulations.
- Valid driver’s license, able to obtain and maintain DQF, and eligible to drive under DOT requirements.
