Job summary

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is seeking a Dental Assistant to coordinate the Mobile Dental Unit program and support outreach initiatives, including transport and setup of portable equipment for community clinics and the main dental facility. You will assist dentists and hygienists, register patients, and ensure infection control during procedures.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Dental Assisting or Expanded Duties Certified.
AED certification maintained active throughout employment.
EFDA expanded duties certification maintained active throughout employment.
Active and valid Florida driver’s license with a reliable personal vehicle.
1–3 years of dental assisting experience.

Responsibilities

Coordinate activities related to the Mobile Dental Unit program and serve as liaison between dental department, social agencies, and safety net providers.
Provide chairside assistance and pediatric support in offsite community settings and in the main clinic.
Register patients, verify demographics and insurance, and manage check-in/check-out and scheduling.
Assist with nitrous oxide administration and monitor patients during procedures as directed.
Prepare instruments, maintain sterilization, and ensure infection control compliance.
Transport portable equipment to offsite locations using a personal vehicle and perform setup/breakdown.
