Job summary

Burrell Behavioral Health in Independence, MO seeks a Mobile Crisis Specialist (QMHP) to provide urgent crisis assessments by phone and in person, evaluate risk, develop safety plans, and connect individuals to the most appropriate care. You will work with Crisis Services, law enforcement, EMS, and community partners to coordinate resources in the least restrictive setting.

The role requires a Master’s in behavioral health or one year of related experience, CPR/First Aid and CPI certification,

  • Master’s degree in a behavioral health field with practicum completed.
  • CPR/First Aid and CPI certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate crisis assessments by telephone and face-to-face.
  • Assess risk, develop safety plans, and connect individuals with appropriate crisis and community resources.
  • Coordinate access to crisis services, hospitalization when appropriate, and other resources.
  • Collaborate with Crisis Services team members and provide consultation and support to mobile crisis team.
  • Partner with law enforcement and emergency medical personnel to support safety during crisis situations.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation to support compliance and reporting.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and supervision.

As a Mobile Crisis Specialist - QMHP, you’ll join our compassionate, collaborative team and provide critical support to individuals and families experiencing mental health crises. This role offers the opportunity to use your clinical skills in meaningful, real-time situations, work alongside community partners and first responders, strengthen your expertise in crisis intervention, connect people with life-changing resources, and help individuals move toward safety and stability. We’re looking for a calm, adaptable, compassionate professional with strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to make thoughtful decisions in rapidly changing situations.In this mobile and on-call role, you’ll respond to crisis referrals by providing telephone and face-to-face assessments, evaluating risk, developing safety plans, and connecting individuals with the most appropriate level of care. You’ll collaborate with Crisis Services team members, law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, community partners, and internal programs to coordinate resources and support.
