Job summary

Aroostook Mental Health Services, Inc. seeks 4 full-time Mobile Crisis Care Providers to join the Crisis Response Team. You will deliver immediate crisis intervention and stabilization across Aroostook, Hancock, and Washington Counties, working in-person and via telehealth.

Responsibilities include evaluating crises, coordinating with law enforcement and agencies, and providing trauma-informed, client-centered care around the clock. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

  • MHRT-CSP certification eligibility required via one of the listed pathways.
  • Minimum 18 years old and valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
  • CPR/First Aid training and Naloxone administration training provided on hire.
  • Completion of 30 college credits or an associate’s degree with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis evaluations, intervention, and stabilization for individuals and families.
  • Partner with law enforcement and community agencies to coordinate responses.
  • Participate in co-response with law enforcement for assessments and custody evaluations.
  • Develop crisis intervention plans identifying effective supports for those in crisis.
  • Facilitate crisis stabilization groups in outpatient settings.
  • Coordinate care with families and providers to ensure continuity of services.
  • Educate community members about available crisis services and resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interventions and follow-up actions.
  • Provide debriefing support after critical community events.
  • Participate in ongoing training, team meetings, and supervision.

We’re seeking 4 Full-Time Mobile Crisis Care Providers to join our Crisis Response Team. This vital role provides immediate crisis intervention, stabilization, and support to individuals and families experiencing behavioral health emergencies—both in-person and via telehealth.

Position Summary

The Mobile Crisis Care Provider delivers compassionate, professional crisis resolution services across Aroostook, Hancock, and Washington Counties. You’ll respond to individuals in crisis at various locations, including primary care offices, homeless shelters, police stations, peer centers, homes, and community settings. Crisis services are available 24/7, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide crisis evaluations, intervention, and stabilization to individuals and families.
  • Partner with law enforcement, first responders, and community agencies to coordinate crisis response and support.
  • Participate in co-response with law enforcement for crisis assessments and protective custody evaluations.
  • Promote the philosophy that recovery is possible—providing client-centered, trauma-informed care.
  • Develop crisis intervention plans that identify effective supports for individuals in crisis.
  • Facilitate open crisis stabilization groups in outpatient settings.
  • Coordinate care with families, treatment providers, and community partners to ensure continuity of services.
  • Educate community members and professionals about available crisis services and behavioral health resources.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all interventions and follow-up actions.
  • Provide debriefing support after critical community events.
  • Participate in ongoing training, team meetings, and supervision.
Additional Duties
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Provide support to staff in satellite offices as requested.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, as required by the contract associated with this position.
  • Eligibility for Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician – Crisis Service Provider (MHRT-CSP) certification is required. Individuals may qualify through one of the following pathways:
  • 36 months of direct behavioral health experience (4,992 hours);
  • MHRT/C certification and a minimum of 1,664 hours of direct behavioral health experience;
  • Completion of 30 college credits hours and/or an associate's degree in a related field, along with a minimum of 1,664 hours of direct behavioral health experience; or have a current MHRT-CSP Certification
  • Upon hire, staff will be required to complete the MHRT-CSP training appropriate to their role and experience
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Required training courses include CPR/First Aid Training, MANDT (Day 1), trained to administer and carry Naloxone and complete Peer Support 101 Training. Training is provided by the agency upon hire.
