Job summary

Bowen Health is seeking a Peer Support Specialist on our Mobile Crisis Team to provide immediate, non-clinical support during acute mental health or substance use crises. Leverage lived experience to join the crisis intervention process, offering empathy, practical assistance, and hope as you help stabilize individuals in Wabash, Kosciusko, Whitley, Marshall, and Huntington counties.

Travel within five core counties is required; duties include de-escalation, crisis planning, documenting progress

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience providing peer support services.
• CPSP, CAPRC or CARC certification required or obtained within 90 days.
• CPI, BLS and First Aid certifications obtained after hire and kept current.

Responsibilities

• Respond to crisis situations in community settings and homes.
• Provide de-escalation and emotional support during crises.
• Share lived experiences to inspire hope and recovery.
• Assist in crisis assessment, safety planning and coping strategies.
• Document client progress notes and peer notes accurately.
• Answer crisis line and provide immediate interventions when needed.
• Access and connect clients to community resources.
• Collaborate with crisis team, law enforcement and first responders.
• Attend team meetings and weekly supervision for professional development.
• Transport individuals to necessary locations and perform billing tasks as needed.
