Position and Travel
This is a Correctional Officer position assigned to the Mobile Custody Team and requires extensive travel statewide. The official domicile is the South Central Correctional Center in Licking, MO. The position will travel to Department of Agriculture and Institutions (DAI) facilities across Missouri to assist with staffing needs as approved by the respective Deputy Division Director. The annual salary is $45,555.60 based on a normal 40-hour workweek. This position is eligible for retention/longevity pay, shift differential, and overtime pay in accordance with departmental policy D2-8.4 and the Office of Administration’s Division of Personnel Differential Pay Guidelines.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm (noon) to 12:00 am (midnight). The Mobile Custody Team Officer reports to the South Central Correctional Center by noon each Monday to receive orders on which facility will be assisted, and returns to the South Central Correctional Center at approximately midnight on Friday each week.

Responsibilities
- Maintain security in buildings, towers, and other posts of an adult correctional facility; intervene during emergencies or altercations and gain physical control of offenders.
- Supervise movement of offenders inside/outside the facility; conduct periodic counts; search offenders and living quarters for contraband; escort/transport offenders to predetermined locations.
- Supervise offenders in housing units, during work activities, and during recreational/religious activities; supervise visits with offenders; search visitors/offenders/buildings/grounds for contraband.
- Conduct inspections for health and safety hazards; prepare/submit reports on offender violations, unusual behaviors, or security deficiencies; discuss minor adjustment problems with offenders; refer serious problems to appropriate staff.
- Promote rehabilitation by encouraging positive social attitudes and worthwhile activities.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum: Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Background check: Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training or as required by the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- By Assignment, may require firearms certification training and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
Additional Information

- Contingent upon your position, eligibility for additional stipends:
- $2.00 per hour shift differential for certain 24/7 facilities (12:00 pm–5:00 am).
- $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend for full-time at qualifying facility.
- $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend for regular posts in restrictive housing units.
- The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
