Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Mechanic (Union) to perform service, troubleshooting, maintenance and replacement on commercial systems. You will work with journeymen and apprentices, applying skills on rooftops, boilers and chillers to improve facility performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of commercial/industrial HVAC troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with light commercial to commercial mechanical equipment.
• EPA refrigerants license and valid driver's license.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% for branch activities and service.
• Ability to write and communicate service problems, root causes, and corrective actions clearly.
• Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot HVACR equipment including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing components.
• Partner with journeymen on chiller repairs and related equipment.
• Identify facility inefficiencies and service issues during commissioning and aftermarket service visits.
• Suggest solutions, prepare quotes, and support upselling opportunities to improve performance.
• Communicate problems, causes, and corrective actions clearly to customers and internal teams.
• Work with local mechanics, apprentices, and branch staff to support service needs.
• Use shaft alignment and vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines, pumps, fans, and compressors.
• Follow safe work practices and complete tasks to the highest standard.
