Job summary

Arizona Humane Society seeks a Staff Veterinarian for the Healthy Tails Mobile Clinic. The role involves long days in community settings delivering low-cost care, including wellness exams, vaccinations, and high-volume surgeries.

The position requires a DVM license, a minimum of one year in practice with strong surgical skills, and willingness to travel across and outside the Phoenix metro area. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in a veterinary practice with emphasis on surgery skills.
• Must possess above-average surgical skills and a humane attitude toward animals and people.
• Good communication skills are necessary.
• Knowledge of or experience in Community Medicine, with a focus on Access to Care, is a plus.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass drug and background screenings to be insured as an AHS driver.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and perform physical exams.
• Perform high-volume spay/neuter surgeries and related procedures.
• Mentor staff, volunteers, and veterinary externs; work across AHS clinics as needed.
• Drive the mobile clinic and participate in community visits.
• Maintain electronic medical records and comply with DEA requirements.
• Contribute to leadership discussions on clinic activities and improvements.
