Job summary

Avis Budget Group is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Columbus, OH to perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of cargo vans and box trucks. You may occasionally drive a Budget Truck to service vehicles on-site or at location. This role requires a CDL and at least 2 years of heavy/medium duty repair experience.

We offer on-the-job training, benefits, and opportunities to obtain ASE certificates, with full-time or part-time options depending on location. On-site work is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy and medium duty equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License CDL required (A, B or C).
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance.

What You’ll Do:

As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll take charge of crucial repairs on a variety of cargo vans box truck brands and models, with minimal technical supervision required. Your duties will involve performing routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, lubrication, tire repairs, and potentially warranty repairs, depending on your level of expertise. Additionally, you may assist our experienced mechanics in tackling complex repair processes. If a box truck or cargo van breaks down, you may also perform repairs, traveling to the vehicle's location to get it back on the road quickly and efficiently. May be required to drive a Budget Truck on public access roads.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid Driver’s License Class A, B or C CDL
• At least 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
• 1 ASE certification (ability to acquire 2 additional ASE certifications within first year)
• Knowledgeable in areas covered by the ASE certification programs, including, but not limited to, Engine Repair, Drive Train/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance and Light Vehicle/Diesel
• Willingness to Work Outdoors in all weather conditions and near a mechanical shop with moderate noise
• Must have a complete set of tools required for auto repair and maintenance
• Basic computer skills including typing, data entry
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously sit, stand, bend, reach, walk, kneel, get up and get down from a seated position, enter, exit, climb into, climb down from, and drive a variety of automobiles, cargo vans and box trucks in all weather conditions
• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance
• On-Site Requirement: This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely

Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience preferred, providing an added advantage!
