Job summary

Avis Budget Group is hiring an experienced technician in Kent, WA to perform complex mechanical repairs on a fleet of cargo vans and box trucks. The role includes preventive maintenance, electrical diagnostics, and occasional mobile repairs to keep vehicles on the road.

Candidates should have 2+ years of repair experience, ASE certification, and a complete tool set. On-site work is required; some travel and DOT readiness may apply, with benefits and training provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience performing mechanical repairs and diagnostics on medium-duty or heavy-duty equipment.
• At least 1 ASE certification, with the ability to obtain 2 additional within the first year.
• Valid Driver's License Class A, B, or C; CDL may be required depending on location.
• Must have a complete set of tools for automotive and diesel repair.
• Basic computer skills including typing and data entry.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and repeatedly stand, bend, reach, and drive.
• OEM experience is preferred.
• Outdoor/mechanical shop environment work.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex mechanical repairs on a fleet of cargo vans and box trucks with minimal supervision.
• Includes preventive maintenance, oil/services, tire repairs, brakes, suspension, electrical diagnostics, and warranty work.
• Mobile repair responsibilities; may travel to vehicle locations to diagnose and resolve issues.
• May drive Budget Trucks on public roads for repair or transport needs.
• Apply diesel and medium-duty expertise to reduce downtime and improve reliability.

In this role, your work helps ensure trucks are safe, reliable, and available—directly supporting customer businesses and keeping them moving.

WhatYou’llDo:

You will perform standard and complex mechanical repairs on a fleet of cargo vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision. This includes preventive maintenance, oil and fluid services, tire repairs, brake and suspension work, electrical diagnostics, and warranty-related repairs based on your skill level.

This role includes mobile repair responsibilities. When a truck or van experiences an issue, you may travel to the vehicle’s location to diagnose and resolve the problem efficiently, helping get the customer back on the road as quickly as possible. You may also be required to drive Budget Trucks on public roads as part of repair or transport needs.

You will work on newer vehicles across multiple manufacturers, applying your diesel and medium-duty expertise to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and support a positive customer experience.

WhatWe’reLooking For:

• Valid Driver’s License Class A, B, or C CDL may be required depending on location
• Minimum of 2 years of experience performing mechanical repairs and diagnostics on medium-duty or heavy-duty equipment
• At least 1 ASE certification, with the ability to obtain 2additionalASE certifications within the first year
• Working knowledge across ASE areas including, but not limited to: Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel
• Ability to obtain DOT medical clearance
• Comfortable working outdoors and in a mechanical shop environment with moderate noise levels
• Must have a complete set of toolsrequiredfor automotive and diesel repair
• Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry
• Must be able to lift upto 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk,sitand kneelfrequently, enter,exitand drive vehicles
• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely
• Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage
