Job summary

LKQ Corporation is seeking motivated individuals to join our team in Detroit. The role centers on ADAS calibrations across makes/models, with opportunities to perform light electrical and mechanical work while delivering high levels of customer service.

Essential duties include calibration repairs, programming, post-scan verification, and maintaining strong customer relationships. ASE/I-CAR is a plus; training is provided; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with automotive repair experience.
  • Diploma/Certification from Technical School or higher in Mechanical Repair or Electrical/Diagnostic Repair or equivalent experience.
  • ASE or I-CAR certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of OE scan tools.
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment is a plus.
  • Experience with estimating systems like TCC, Mitchell, or All Data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration repairs using OEM or aftermarket scan tools and interpret codes for needed repair or calibration.
  • Perform programming and pre/post scans; conduct minor electrical diagnostics.
  • Test drive customer vehicles after repair to verify operation.
  • Provide clear communication with customers about work orders and needed repairs.
  • Develop relationships with customers to maintain service levels.
  • Complete training provided by the Company in a timely fashion.
  • Drive a company vehicle safely and responsibly; perform other duties as assigned.

This position will be responsible for performing ADAS calibrations on most vehicle makes and models while delivering high levels of customer service. It may also perform light electrical and mechanical procedures.

Essential Job Duties
  • Perform calibration repairs, utilizing OEM or aftermarket scan tools, including understanding scan tool codes to determine needed repair or calibration.
  • Perform programming and pre/post scans. Perform minor electrical diagnostics.
  • Test drive customer vehicles after repair to ensure proper vehicle operation.
  • May perform basic diagnostics and light electrical and mechanical work.
  • Provide clear communication with customers regarding current work orders and additional repairs needed.
  • Develop relationships with new customers and provide a high level of service to existing customers to maintain customer relationships.
  • Complete training provided by the Company in a timely fashion.
  • Drives a Company vehicle in a safe, courteous, and responsible manner avoiding traffic violations and accidents
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Not responsible for supervising employees.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Automotive repair experience.
  • Diploma/Certification from Technical School or higher in the field(s) of Mechanical Repair or Electrical/Diagnostic Repair or equivalent experience.
Preferred Requirements
  • ASE or I-CAR certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of OE scan tools.
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Basic computer skills.

Basic messages communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records.

Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.

Decisions generally affect one's job or assigned functional area.

Results are defined; sets personal own goals and determines how to achieve results with few or no guidelines to follow; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.

Assignments/priorities provide by supervisor/manager.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods.

The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.

Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Compensation

$24 - $30 per hour, depending on experience.
