HDR has an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced professional to serve in a leadership position as our Minnesota/Wisconsin Resources Business Group Professional Services Leader (PSL). Professional Services is an area of our organization responsible for developing technical resources and maintaining a culture of quality. These practices improve our competitiveness and drive our growth.

As PSL, you will report to the Minnesota/Wisconsin Business Group Manager (BGM) and work alongside the BGM to provide technical oversight and staffing resource assignments for projects across all six of the project teams supporting the Minnesota/Wisconsin Resources program. You will serve as key partner for each of the Business Class Leads within the Minnesota/Wisconsin Resources program who serve as the technical delivery supervisors for the following service areas: Renewables, Power Generation, Hydropower, Substation, Transmission Line, Distribution, System Protection, Waste Planning, Trenchless Crossing, Strategic Communications, Air Quality, Acoustics, Real Estate Services and Environmental Services. As PSL, you will support the continued career development of supervisors within the Area. You will collaborate closely with HDR’s Resources Professional Services Global Director to implement the Business Group’s technical and quality initiatives within the Minnesota/Wisconsin Area.

In addition to your primary responsibilities as summarized below, the PSL will be responsible for collaborating on technical delivery and business development for cross-business group opportunities with HDR’s Transportation, Water, Architecture, and Building Engineering Systems business groups. You will also support recruiting efforts to attract and retain eminent talent for our local program. More specifically, we’ll count on you to:

  • Be responsible to the Business Group Manager to develop, coordinate, monitor and improve technical competencies of Business Group staff to meet client needs and market drivers.
  • Partner with the key cross sector leads and ensure groups are providing critical value to the BG in either growing, providing critical delivery or reducing risk by housing in-house specialties.
  • Lead and monitor development and training of area staff in technical and business competencies.
  • Work with market sector leads on workload projections and coordinating workload sharing with other Business Groups or Areas.
  • Lead quality assurance efforts to implement QA/QC Program activities striving for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor project QC Review activities including assignment of experienced and qualified reviewers.
  • Lead and monitor activities for continuous improvement including development and use of technical standards, procedures, best practices and lessons learned.
  • Lead and participate in project reviews and support project teams with management of claims and losses. Participate in 0% reviews and project reviews.
  • Review hiring needs, requisitions and offers as delegated by Business Group Manager.
  • Participate in key pursuit teaming, staffing discussion and fee development.
  • Partner with Market Sector Leaders and Project Delivery Leader.
  • Oversee technical and digital delivery evolution, in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Work with Business Group Manager to streamline and coordinate business processes consistent with Area, corporate policy and MOA.
  • Oversee and ensure implementation of quality, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Area operations, market sectors, business classes, and delivery leaders.
  • Review and approve fee proposals as delegated by Business Group Manager.
  • Serve as a champion for BGX opportunities.
  • Support communication and coordination within all business groups.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience.

  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers.
