Job summary

Newberry County Memorial Hospital in Newberry, SC is seeking a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician to perform a range of clinical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests for diagnosis and treatment. The role includes specimen handling, instrument maintenance, QA, and potential phlebotomy/biopsy assistance.

The position requires an accredited MLT program, an associate’s degree, and national certification or eligibility with certification within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, calibration, and QC of laboratory instrumentation.
• Troubleshooting and problem resolution in the lab.
• Perform quality assurance tasks and daily temperature monitoring.
• Receive, process, and prepare specimens for analysis.
• Assist with phlebotomy and biopsy procedures as needed.
• Assist with inventory control and stocking.
• Participate in proficiency testing and continuing education.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technician is needed Wednesdays 5:30 am - 6:00 pm and Thursdays & Fridays from 8:00 am to 830 pm. performs various clinical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Receives and obtains specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares and applies techniques used in fields of blood bank, bacteriology, parasitology, hematology, serology, urinalysis, chemistry and morphological examinations. Must maintain and record lab results and quality control in all areas.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following

• Performance of instrument maintenance, calibration, and QC
• Troubleshooting and problem resolution
• Performance of quality assurance tasks
• Daily temperature monitoring
• Receiving, processing, and ordering of specimens as needed
• Assistance with phlebotomy procedures
• Assistance with biopsy procedures
• Assistance with inventory control and stocking

Requirements
