Job summary

Bonner General Health in Sandpoint, Idaho, is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technologist for a graveyard shift (7 on 7 off) in a full-time, on-site role. The lab provides clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology and transfusion services with 24-hour coverage using state-of-the-art analyzers.

Must have ASCP certification or equivalent and a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology. The position offers a sign-on bonus of $2,500, with the first payment and a second $2,500 at one-year

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or accredited program.
• Minimum 1 year related experience preferred.
• ASCP certification or equivalent; BLS within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret diagnostic testing across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, immunohematology and basic microbiology.
• Maintain proficiency testing and quality control with timely corrective action.
• Ensure proper specimen collection by phlebotomy across all age groups.

Position Summary:

Bonner General Health’s full-service laboratory provides advanced laboratory services in clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology and transfusion services for both in-patients and out-patients. This fast paced and dynamic department is staffed with experienced certified Medical Laboratory Scientists/Technologist, Technicians, Phlebotomist and Assistants. We provide 24 hour coverage using state-of-the-art analyzers, with results available within a few hours for most tests ordered.

Our Medical Lab Technicians and Technologist perform and interpret, when appropriate, all diagnostic testing available in the clinical laboratory of Bonner General Health. They must have working knowledge, competency and organizational skills necessary to perform all diagnostic testing in all departments of the clinical laboratory; chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, Immunohematology and basic STAT microbiology (Microbiology competency required for gram stains, culture set-up and point-of-care micro kits)
Must have working phlebotomy knowledge of specimen collection requirements, complications of phlebotomy and have competent phlebotomy skills for all age groups
Responsible for proficiency surveys as assigned with an 80% or better average score Working knowledge and skills necessary to perform and monitor quality control on all testing; trouble shoot all quality control problems timely to assure accuracy of all patient results, with proper tracking and documentation of all corrective action..

Education, Experience, License/Certification Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree preferred; must have completed a training program in an accredited school of Medical Technology.

Experience:

At least one (1) year of continuous job related experience is preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Must be registered as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent; current BLS (AHA) certification within 3 months of hire
