Job summary

East Tennessee Children's Hospital Laboratory seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform tests across departments following established protocols. You will document results promptly, verify accuracy, and report findings while maintaining quality control and safety standards.

The role requires MLS certification and a bachelor’s degree, with 4 years of experience preferred, and a collaborative, patient-centered approach in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Degree from an NCCLS approved MLS program or completion of a clinical lab training program.
• MLS certification by ASCP, AMT or AAB required.
• 4 years of medical technology experience preferred, or equivalent combination of experience/education.

Responsibilities

• Performs accurate testing of specimens per established protocol.
• Documents and reports test results timely and verifies accuracy.
• Maintains QC and calibration records per procedures.
• Performs instrument maintenance and calibration as required.
• Meets deadlines and turnaround times for results.
