Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Portland, ME. This hospital-based role is located at Northern Lights Hospital and follows a Monday–Friday schedule with variable days and rotating weekends.

Pay ranges from $31.58 to $35.09 per hour, with possible annual bonuses based on performance and organizational factors. Responsibilities include specimen handling, testing, result reporting, and adherence to CLIA/HIPAA/OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Candidate may be previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting and records.
• Maintain proficiency testing records for comparison to patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines.
• Adhere to laboratory policies when test systems deviate from performance standards.
• Identify and report problems affecting test performance or results.
