Job summary

General Motors (GM) is offering a Machine Learning Validation Engineer internship within the Autonomous Vehicle Software Validation team in Sunnyvale, CA. You will contribute to validation efforts for AV behavior, craft guidance on performance, and design V&V strategies in collaboration with engineers.

You will work on automated pipelines, edge-case detection, and analysis of large driving datasets to improve testing coverage.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Master’s degree in CS, ML, Engineering, or related technical field.
• Graduating between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Experience coding in Python, SQL, C/C++ or similar.

Responsibilities

• Enhance AI/ML validation frameworks and tools for autonomous vehicle software systems.
• Design and implement automated testing pipelines for sim-based and real-world validation scenarios using ML.
• Use ML to enhance simulated performance metrics.
• Build tools leveraging ML and statistics to identify edge cases and failure modes in AV.
• Analyze large-scale driving data to identify validation gaps and improve testing coverage.
