Job summary

Abbott, a global healthcare leader, seeks an AI Platform Engineer in Madison, WI to build and operate the ML/LLM platform used across cancer diagnostics. You will own data pipelines, training, evaluation, and promotion, ensuring fast, auditable inference and scalable services.

You will implement CI/CD, GitOps, and GPU infrastructure, while delivering developer-facing APIs and maintaining governance, cost tracking, and strong collaboration with teams across Abbott.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Engineering/AI/ML.
• 3+ years building and operating production software, including ML/AI infrastructure.
• Strong Python with automated testing, code review, and readable code.
• Experience with ML lifecycle from training through retraining.
• Kubernetes experience deploying and debugging containerized workloads on AWS.
• Experience with CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure automation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ML data, feature, and training pipelines with lineage tracking.
• Implement automated evaluation and promotion gates for production models.
• Automate the model lifecycle end-to-end with CI/CD and GitOps.
• Operate production model-serving infrastructure for LLMs and predictive models.
• Architect and manage GPU infrastructure for training and inference.
• Instrument the platform with logging, telemetry, drift detection, and cost tracking.
• Extend registries and versioning for traceable model histories.
• Build developer-facing APIs, SDKs, templates, docs, and runbooks.
• Uphold company values and maintain reliable attendance.
• Act with an inclusion mindset.
