Job summary

Thomson Reuters Labs is seeking an Applied Scientist Intern to work on ML/NLP problems in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. You will contribute to model development, experiment with new techniques, and collaborate with teammates across the globe.

The internship runs Jan 11, 2027 to Jul 12, 2027 and offers exposure to state-of-the-art AI methods, data challenges, and real-world applications across legal, tax, and news domains.

Qualifications

• Be currently enrolled in a PhD program in a relevant discipline or a Master's program with research experience.
• Have an understanding and experience with Natural Language Processing, and/or Machine Learning methods, including Large Language Models.
• Have experience with model training, fine tuning, and evaluating experiments related to Machine Learning or Large Language Models.
• Are experienced in one or more programming languages (preferably Python) and have experience working in the Cloud (preferably AWS)
• Have experience with ML/NLP libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, spaCy, LangChain, and HuggingFace.
• Are comfortable working with unstructured datasets and are knowledgeable about tools and techniques for data cleaning and processing.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
