Job summary

Waymo is hiring for a role within the Strategic Selection team focused on building generalized ML models for the Waymo Driver. You will investigate driving behaviour issues from logs, improve production ML models, and develop foundational frameworks to advance autonomous driving capabilities.

Applicants should hold a Masters or PhD in CS or ML, be proficient in C++ or Python, and have experience with ML models in production systems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate driving behaviour issues from logs and understand the root cause.
• Improve performance of the state of the art ML models in Planner.
• Develop foundational frameworks that advance the Waymo Driver's capabilities.
• Expand the impact of ML models while preserving interpretability and behavioral guarantees.
• Directly contribute to solving challenging driving situations in the long tail.
