Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer for the System Experience team to bring on-device personal search capabilities to apps across Apple platforms, including iOS and macOS.

You will design reusable architectures and APIs to enable scalable, cross-platform solutions on Apple devices. You will collaborate with teams across machine learning, OS frameworks, and services to tailor technologies for mobile constraints while protecting user privacy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of application development experience with Swift, Objective-C, or an equivalent high-level programming language on iOS or macOS.
• Experience developing search systems, including indexing and retrieval technologies.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally and communicating technical concepts to diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Integrate on-device personal search technologies with system applications across iOS, macOS, and other Apple platforms.
• Design and build reusable software architectures, frameworks, and developer-facing APIs for long-term scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across machine learning, OS frameworks, and services to adapt and optimize technologies for mobile constraints.
• Combine multi-system data streams into unified search experiences while safeguarding user privacy on-device.
• Manage system trade-offs through profiling, diagnosis, and runtime performance improvements to maintain responsive user experiences.
