Job summary

Lyft is offering a Summer 2027 ML internship in Toronto to design, build, train and test models and translate research ideas into production-ready pipelines.

You are pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science at a Canadian university with graduation between December 2027 and Summer 2028, and you will be available Summer 2027 in Toronto. Proficiency in Python and ML libraries is required, with strong collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field from a university in Canada (required). Graduation between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
• Available Summer 2027 for internship in Toronto.
• Strong knowledge of ML libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, MXNet, etc.
• Strong programming skills in Python or a similar object oriented language.
• Proven ability to turn research ML papers into working code.
• Practical knowledge of end-to-end ML workflows.
• Engineer at heart with high comfort designing software systems and writing high-quality code.
• Curiosity and ability to learn new concepts quickly.
• Strong problem solving mindset, resourcefulness, and collaborative spirit.
• Demonstrated oral and written interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, build, train and test of ML models
• Write production-level code to convert ML models into working pipelines
• Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and ML Engineers to frame ML problems within the business context
• Analyze experimental and observational data, communicate findings to support decisions
• Participate in code and spec reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
