Job summary

Waystar is seeking an Application Engineer to join our Advanced R&D team in Atlanta. You will design, build, and implement web applications and back-end services for internal customers, with exposure to cloud-based components and generative AI on Google Cloud.

You will work across the SDLC, write unit tests, and collaborate with management and other team members to deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years experience in application engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Designs/develops/tests/implements improvements or new features in core deployment tools and supporting applications.
• Designs/develops/tests/implements new features using the Google Cloud Platform
• Interacts with generative AI models hosted on Google Cloud and on-premises
• Adheres to coding standards and approved technologies
• Unit tests changes on development and coordinates with Business/Technology Owners
• Communicates development progress daily to senior team
• Participates in Production deployment and Smoke Testing

ABOUT THIS POSITION

We are looking for an outstanding, brilliant, and driven Application Engineer to join our growing Advanced R & D team. In this mission critical role, the Application Engineer will design, build, and implement amazing web applications and back-end services for our internal customers. They will also have the opportunity to work with cloud-based components and generative AI services on the Google platform.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Designs/develops/tests/implementsimprovements or new featuresin our core code deployment tools and supporting applications, based onthefunctional and technical specifications

• Designs/develops/tests/implementsnew features using the Google Cloud Platform

• Designs/develops/tests/implementsnew services that interact with various generative AI models hosted on Google Cloud and on-premises

• Responsible for adhering to coding standards andtheapproved technologies

• Unit tests all changes on development,and then workswith the appropriateBusiness and/orTechnologyOwner(s) to ensurethatthe developed solution meetsthebusiness requirements

• Communicates development progress daily to the senior-level team members

• Attendsto any work items assigned through the internal case system in a timely fashion

• Takes ownership of work items assigned,communicates estimates and daily progress as part oftheSDLC process, and actively works to resolve issues blocking progress

• Assistsin the QA process

• Participates,as required,in Productiondeployment, providing instructionsand supportfor deployingthecodechanges successfully, andfor SmokeTesting code post-release

• Developsand maintainsopen and fluid communication withManagement

• Developsand maintainsa positive relationship with other team members

• Additional duties as assigned

• 2-5 years experience

• Basic understanding of programming concepts

• Can code in one or more general purpose programming languages;C# and.NET programming languagesarepreferred

• Experience with Python and SQL
