Focused Energy is seeking a high-caliber ML/ computational physics expert to join our Software Engineering & Digital Twin team in a hybrid Austin role. You will build surrogate models, PINNs, and ML pipelines that accelerate high‑fidelity multiphysics simulations across laser systems and fusion components.

You will collaborate with optical engineers, physicists, and software teams to enable real‑time decision support and autonomous optimization, advancing fusion device design cycles.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant field with strong computation background.
• Proven experience building ML models for complex physical systems.
• Expert Python and experience with HPC environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy surrogate/ROMs to accelerate multiphysics sims.
• Develop physics-informed ML and PINNs embedding physical constraints.
• Build ML pipelines for training, validation, and uncertainty quantification.
• Implement active learning and Bayesian optimization for design space exploration.
• Integrate ML models into Digital Twin and HPC workflows.
• Create anomaly detection and predictive diagnostics for system health.
• Collaborate across physics, engineering, and software teams.
