Job summary

Viridien is hiring an ML Engineer to build production agentic applications that automate geoscience workflows. You will design agent-based systems, integrate tools and external APIs, and ensure persistent state management and verifiable outputs.

You will also shape what these apps do, determine workflows to automate, and design LLM fine-tuning strategies when needed, with a focus on reliability and auditable decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Geophysics, or a related field.
• Strong GPA discipline: 3.5+ on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
• Solid programming fundamentals including asynchronous and concurrent programming.
• Hands-on experience building multi-agent or graph-based LLM workflows.
• Experience designing information retrieval: tool-based search, semantic retrieval, reranking.

Responsibilities

• Shape application logic and UX: define good results and verifiable outputs.
• Design agent workflows with branches, loops, and sub-workflows.
• Implement human-in-the-loop approvals and autonomous actions.
• Provide right context: tool-based search over files, logs, databases; semantic retrieval.
• Ground answers in evidence, enforce tool permissions, guard against prompt injection.
• Integrate tools and external APIs; handle concurrency, retries and errors.
