Job summary

Stanford University is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to support advanced technical research within the Weill Cancer Hub. The role focuses on developing and applying AI/ML methods for biomedical applications and real-world evaluation to ensure safety, reliability, and clinical utility of translational models.

Reporting to technical leadership, you will build data pipelines and software infrastructure for ML research, and guide choices on languages, tools, and engineering practices used

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field and three years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills of advanced scientific or engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience applying complex scientific and engineering principles to develop and evaluate systems.
  • Ability to independently oversee instrumentation installation and maintenance.
  • Ability to collaborate with senior staff to design and implement systems.
  • Experience overseeing major scientific initiatives and ensuring project objectives are met.

Responsibilities

  • Support scientific research programs by analyzing data, monitoring experiments, and prototyping systems.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to select optimum solutions and modify equipment designs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine problems for scientists and engineers.
  • Design and develop special purpose equipment and systems with senior researchers.
  • Participate in planning and implementing scientific or engineering initiatives and projects.
  • Oversee a laboratory space and supervise technicians and staff to meet project goals.
  • Review research proposals and advise on capabilities and resources.
  • Enforce health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop training manuals and safety guidelines for new users.
