Job summary

Waymo is seeking an L4 Policy & Quality Specialist to act as the Mountain View operational backbone of the Labeling Policy Program. You will translate complex ML data requirements into precise labeling policies and publish actionable guidelines.

You will drive rapid policy iterations, craft golden datasets, and oversee ~10 active queues with vendor teams. You will coordinate with regional specialists to capture country-specific driving rules, ensure safety objectives, and monitor data quality.

Qualifications

• 4-5+ years of experience in data analysis, operations, or program management with a focus on ML data annotation.
• Operational project management: independently manage small sub-working groups or vendor squads.
• Core ML data lifecycle understanding: dataset curation, labeling pipelines, data quality metrics.
• Analytical aptitude: perform technical data analyses to diagnose pipeline issues and generate actionable insights.
• Adaptable and detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Translate requirements to policies: collaborate with MTV-based Perception Engineers to publish clear labeling policies.
• Drive queue readiness & golden datasets: quick policy iterations and small baseline datasets to set quality baselines.
• Direct vendor teams: provide technical guidance to labeling experts to ensure queues run smoothly and safely.
• Address edge cases & regional nuances: provide inputs on long-tail scenarios and ensure country-specific rules are captured.
• Enable quality and process improvements: monitor pipelines and build tooling to identify improvements.
