Vernon's Speakeasy—an intimate, upscale venue outside Albuquerque—seeks a bartender with a craft focus. You will work behind the bar and on the floor, building cocktails and delivering fine-dining service to every guest.

Expect evenings Wednesday through Sunday, with shifts typically 3:30pm–11:30pm, and a requirement to work weekends. Previous experience in craft cocktails and wine knowledge is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of restaurant experience, or 2+ years in fine dining.
• Deep knowledge of spirits: Scotch, bourbon, tequila, rum, vodka, and cocktails.
• Strong wine knowledge and standards for fine dining service.
• Food literacy and ability to discuss menu items confidently.
• Calm, focused approach under pressure with a team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Execute cocktails to a craft standard, build signature list and classics.
• Provide full bar service and plate service across the dining room.
• Prep bar and maintain flow so service stays on schedule.
• Demonstrate menu fluency and answer guest questions with confidence.
• Anticipate guest needs and pace service appropriately.
• Support teammates to ensure a consistent guest experience.

About Vernon's

Vernon's Speakeasy is an intimate, upscale speakeasy in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. Guests don't walk into a restaurant. They step out of 2026 and into something slower, more human, more romantic.

We have one goal. Vernon's will be the number one restaurant in New Mexico. Not top five. Not in the conversation. Number one. Every seat on this team exists to deliver that standard, and at a speakeasy, the bar doesn't support the show. It is the show.

The Role

At Vernon's, the program in the glass co-headlines with the program on the plate. Our cocktails are signature to the room, not lifted from a national playbook, and every pour is a craft. You'll work behind the bar and on the floor: building cocktails, serving bar-top dining, and running tables at a fine dining standard.

This is a seat for a professional. Bartenders here set the bar alongside the cooks, and the guest at seat three should get the same experience Wednesday at 6 as Saturday at 9.

What You'll Own

• Cocktail execution at a craft standard: our signature list, classics done right, and the judgment to build for the guest in front of you
• Full service at the bar top
• Table service in the room, at the same standard as the bar
• Bar prep before and during service, so the night never catches you behind
• Menu fluency across food and beverage. Guests will ask you about everything on the plate, and "I'll check" is not the house standard.
• Anticipating the guest: the refill offered before it's requested, the pacing read off the table without being told

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of restaurant experience, or 2+ years in fine dining
• Real depth in spirits: scotch, bourbon, whiskey, tequila, rum, and vodka, and the craft cocktail canon
• Working knowledge of fine wine and fine dining service standards
• Food literacy, including meat temperatures and preparation. You'll be selling the menu, not just the bar.
• Calm, subtle urgency under pressure. The room never sees you rush.
• A team-first instinct: you help before you're asked, and you make the people around you better

Nice to Have

• Craft cocktail bar or speakeasy background
• Wine certification or sommelier coursework
• Experience at a tasting-menu or chef-driven restaurant

Vernon's is where service professionals come to refine their craft. Nobody plateaus here. The cocktail program is ours to keep building, and bartenders who hold the standard have a real path into lead bar, beverage program, and leadership roles as we grow.

Schedule

Vernon's is open Wednesday through Sunday. Typical shift runs 3:30pm–11:30pm and may run longer based on reservations. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays, with occasional special events and expanded holiday hours. Friday and Saturday availability is required.
