Job summary

Knife River Montana is seeking a dedicated concrete mixer driver to deliver ready-mix to customer sites, ensuring timely service and quality control.

You will perform daily vehicle inspections, maintain cleanliness, and communicate with customers to confirm requirements while adhering to safety protocols. A Class B CDL with air brakes and DOT medical card are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • CDL Class B with air brakes and DOT medical card required.
  • 1–3 months experience or training related to ready mix delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily truck inspections and report safety concerns.
  • Maintain truck cleanliness and check fluid levels and tires.
  • Deliver concrete mix to job sites and adjust slump as needed.
  • Communicate with customers to confirm requirements and safety.
  • Position truck for unloading and operate chutes safely.
  • Record weather and load data for QA and timekeeping.
  • Comply with OSHA/DOT/EPA regulations and attend training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for delivering concrete mix to customer job sites in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform daily truck inspections and report needed repairs or safety concerns.
  • Perform daily housekeeping in truck cab and maintenance of equipment, including fluid levels and tire pressure.
  • Drive truck safely into position to receive load and adjust ready mix to proper slump.
  • Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment.
  • Communicate with customer to understand requirements of job and deal with safety concerns. Clear communication is a must.
  • Position truck for unloading and attach chutes safely.
  • Cleans truck safely after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck, using water hose and hoe. This may require climbing up ladder using 3 points of contact onto platform.
  • Complete recordkeeping tasks, including note changes made to the product and any weather and environmental conditions on the load ticket for quality assurance; daily timekeeping and time off requests; inspection reports.
  • Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance including attending training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Class B CDL license with air brakes.
  • Must maintain DOT medical card and acceptable driving record.
  • One to three months experience and/or training related to ready mix delivery.
