Job summary

C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. is seeking a Mixer to oversee that all mixes and grinds meet quality and yield standards in line with the production schedule.

You will verify ingredients against product specs, prepare batches per guidelines, and document the process in writing and in the ERP system. Responsibilities include following safety and food safety standards, reporting equipment issues, and coordinating with the machine operator to ensure dough consistency and accurate ingredient usage.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience operating or working with food manufacturing machinery.
  • Experience following SOPs, recipes, and work task specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Safety and Food Safety Standards (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and complete safety training.
  • Operate and assist with grinders/mixers per batch requirements and production schedule.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and support preventive maintenance efforts.
  • Verify ingredients before mixing and document data in ERP and batch records.

Job description

The Mixer is responsible for ensuring that all mixes and grinds meet acceptable quality, yield standards and are in line with the production schedule. This role oversees that all ingredients and materials are correct based on product specifications. They must be able to prepare batches per the specified guidelines and production schedule. This role maintains accurate reporting and documentation of the mixing process in writing and via the company’s ERP system.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks according to Safety and Food Safety Standards, participate in safety training programs, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (SQF, GMP, HACCP, OSHA) and company policies.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, maintain preventive maintenance program, and ensure LOTO compliance.
  • Follow production schedule, complete efficient product changeovers, promote teamwork, maintain a clean and organized work area, and maintain workstations per SQF guidelines.
  • Identify and understand batch requirements, follow recipes and instructions, verify accurate ingredients before mixing, and coordinate with machine operator to confirm dough consistency.
  • Monitor temperature, pressure, appearance, and physical changes; ensure quality, yield standards, and production schedule are met, and keep waste within standards.
  • Report deficiencies to department lead/supervisor, record and document data (mixing, temperatures, etc.), and record ingredient consumption using RF gun and TGI system.
  • Maintain communication with machine operator, coordinate lunches and breaks, troubleshoot and resolve problems, and ensure equipment is maintained, cleaned, and sanitized.
  • Keep mixing room organized and audit‑ready; report equipment malfunctions and maintain preventive maintenance program effectiveness.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Grinder responsibilities: prepare equipment, change grinder stones, verify planning scheduling, inspect corn quality (pH, humidity), verify masa texture, weigh masa, enter information on TGI, complete preservative tank changes, enforce FIFO.
  • Corn mixer responsibilities: prepare mix per recipe, verify ingredient scans, maintain quality standards, monitor waste, report deficiencies, maintain communication, and document production reports.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education/Certifications and Experience
  • Grade School level; High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience operating or working with food manufacturing machinery or similar.
  • 1–2 years of experience following work task specifications, SOPs, recipes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math and calculator use.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills, ability to train, coach, and motivate co‑workers.
  • Team player, self‑motivated, able to initiate corrective actions.
  • Physical: lift, push, pull, carry up to 50 lbs; stand for prolonged periods; bend, stoop, crawl, reach, grasp, work in adverse positions.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and schedule flexibility (weekends, holidays, off‑shifts).
  • Compliance with attendance policy, drug and alcohol zero tolerance, and all food safety certifications.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Continual walking and standing on hard surfaces, climbing, descending steps, bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Exposure to rotating and reciprocating parts, industrial equipment, cool and hot temperatures, and noise. Must stand for long periods.
