I. Major Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the client admission process by completing all required documentation accurately and searching clients and their belongings for contraband upon admission.
  2. Serve as a residential counselor using recovery-oriented principles for specified number of residents as directed.
  3. Implement treatment plans and interventions, properly documenting using progress/service notes.
  4. Work with clients to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, laundry, money management, symptom management, and other necessary interventions.
  5. Ensure healthy menu planning, food shopping, and meal preparation through coordination and assistance.
  6. Monitor clients’ medication, assist with attending appointments, and ensure safe storage.
  7. Work with clients to maintain the residence on a daily basis including chores and light housekeeping duties.
  8. Provide physical assistance and close supervision as required.
  9. Transport clients in a personal or company vehicle as applicable.
  10. Comply with regulations for DMH, HUD, BSAS, and DPH, including all required trainings.
  11. Assist individuals with intervention work as outlined in their treatment plans.
  12. Lead skill development and/or other group(s) as assigned.
  13. Redirect clients as needed to provide a safe environment.
  14. Provide crisis intervention and support, monitoring client location and condition per program regulations.
  15. Perform program cleaning and clerical work as assigned.
  16. Notify supervisor of any identified problems or deficiencies in the program.
  17. Review resident records and treatment plans for completeness and accuracy as assigned.
  18. Answer telephone in a professional manner while documenting all relevant information.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma/GED/HiSet.
  2. Satisfactory CORI background check.
  3. Preferred: Associate’s Degree and certification in addiction counseling.
  4. Must have a current valid US-issued driver’s license and a registered, inspected, and insured automobile for work-related purposes.

Experience/Skills:

  1. Understanding of Addiction and Recovery.
  2. Demonstrate person-centered, strength-based communication.
  3. Effective communication with staff and peers.
  4. Ability to observe, document, teach, and respond to mental and physical health needs.

Department-specific competencies will be maintained in the individual departments.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Work is considered medium. May be required to lift up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 20 lbs occasionally. Work is indoors in a patient-facing environment.
