Job summary

American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL) seeks an experienced Marine Pilot or Captain to lead vessels on the Upper and Lower Mississippi and other tributaries. You will supervise crews, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain accurate voyage records.

The role requires a Master towing license on Western Rivers, inland waters endorsement, USCG fitness, and TWIC; you may travel to training locations as needed and work 28 days on/off per cycle.

Qualifications

  • Master towing vessels on Western Rivers license required.
  • Inland Waters or Near Coastal Endorsement required.
  • USCG physical examination requirements must be met.
  • TWIC and valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Navigate vessels safely along key river routes with awareness of weather and traffic.
  • Supervise and lead the vessel crew for safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with federal/local regulations and environmental standards.
  • Respond to navigational challenges and emergencies to protect assets.
  • Maintain voyage logs and incident reports.
  • Fulfill Vessel Security Plan duties as vessel security officer.
  • Enforce company policies and CREW Endurance Management System guidelines.
