Job summary

Thomasville First Baptist Church is seeking a Director of Missions to mobilize and equip the church for local, regional, and international gospel engagement. Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for all missions and outreach efforts of Thomasville First Baptist Church
  • Develop and strengthen opportunities for local, regional, and international gospel engagement
  • Cultivate a church-wide culture of evangelism, discipleship, and missional living
  • Equip and disciple mission leaders, volunteers, and future missionaries for effective ministry and service
  • Foster and maintain healthy relationships with missionaries, church planters, mission organizations, and local ministry partners
  • Develop systems for ongoing missionary care, communication, encouragement, and support
  • Organize and promote mission opportunities, including short-term mission trips, outreach projects, evangelism initiatives, and community partnerships
  • Plan and coordinate church-wide missions emphases and events
  • Help church members discover and engage serving opportunities through the church’s discipleship pathway
  • Maintain clear communication regarding mission opportunities, ministry partnerships, and outreach initiatives through church communication platforms and digital resources
  • Stay informed regarding local ministry opportunities, denominational initiatives, global mission efforts, and cultural trends impacting missions
  • Participate in at least one domestic or international mission effort annually
  • Prepare, manage, and oversee the missions budget in alignment with approved financial policies and priorities
  • Steward and oversee the distribution of missions funding according to the approved budget
  • Collaborate with church staff and ministry leaders to ensure missions strategy aligns with the overall vision and mission of Thomasville First Baptist Church
  • Keep Missions Center manned, stocked, and relevant
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor with humility, flexibility, and a servant-hearted attitude

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Missions serves to mobilize, equip, and lead the Thomasville First Baptist Church family in living on mission locally, regionally, and globally. This role exists to help people follow Jesus for the joy of Thomasville and the nations by developing healthy missions systems, strengthening strategic partnerships, cultivating leaders, and creating clear pathways for gospel engagement and service.

The Director of Missions provides vision, leadership, organization, and support for the church’s missions strategy while fostering a culture of evangelism, discipleship, and missional living throughout the church body. This individual should be spiritually mature, relational, organized, and capable of leading volunteers and ministry leaders with humility, passion, and wisdom while helping members discover and develop their gifts for ministry and service.

The role should align closely with the church’s discipleship pathway, particularly in helping members serve their neighbors, care for the marginalized, multiply disciples in Thomasville, and engage the nations through missions and evangelism.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
