Job summary

S3I Engineering is seeking an entry- to mid-level Systems Engineer I to join our team supporting DoD mission systems. You will help test, integrate, and document sensors and software in lab and field environments, ensuring reliability and performance.

The role requires Linux troubleshooting, basic system configuration, and collaboration with government stakeholders. Travel 12–18 weeks per year; work schedule is M-F 8-5; U.S. citizenship and TS/SCI eligibility are needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, CS, hardware, math, or physics.
  • Foundational Linux troubleshooting across multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with configuring basic Linux systems with multiple services.
  • Must obtain DoD 8570/8140 compliance within 6 months of start.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in dynamic test environments across organizations.
  • US citizenship and eligibility for TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in installation, configuration, and testing of mission systems with sensors and integrated software in government labs and aircraft environments.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting using Linux command-line tools and diagnostics.
  • Configure test benches to validate software requirements and system behavior.
  • Document root-cause indicators and reproduce system anomalies from fielded systems.
  • Participate in design reviews under supervision with alignment to requirements.
  • Prepare field test reports and notes for senior engineers and government personnel.
  • Follow DoD and DCSA cybersecurity practices during configuration and testing.
  • Provide dependable support to government stakeholders and partner organizations.
  • Travel to support tasking approximately 12-18 weeks annually.
