Job summary

Lunar Outpost seeks a Mission System Cybersecurity Engineer to advance security across mission and ground systems. You will integrate cybersecurity principles into system design, development, and operations to protect data, assets, and critical infrastructure.

Role requires experience with security audits, SSPs/POA&Ms, and risk management, and will involve coordination with cross-functional teams to meet contractual obligations and government standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in engineering, computer science, cybersecurity or related field.
• 6+ years of direct experience in cybersecurity, governance, risk management, or compliance roles (Bachelor’s).
• 4+ years of direct experience in cybersecurity, governance, risk management, or compliance roles (Master’s).
• Experience with security compliance audits and frameworks.
• Strong written and verbal communication and the ability to influence engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Stand up and maintain security controls aligned to frameworks such as NIST 800-171, DFARS, NIST 800-53/ITAR.
• Decompose and trace cybersecurity requirements into architecture, design, and verification activities.
• Lead or assist in audits and ensure remediation of findings.
• Maintain SSPs, POA&Ms, SCTMs and evidence of compliance/authorization.
• Lead or contribute to incident response and security monitoring.
