Job summary

Anduril Industries is recruiting a Mission Software Engineer for its Mission Systems, Networking domain. The role focuses on building distributed, resilient software that connects autonomous vehicles to command and control, with emphasis on networking, messaging, and orchestration within Lattice OS.

You will work across validation, live operations, and fleet management, implementing end-to-end tests and contributing to secure, scalable Linux-based systems.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS/PhD in CS, SE, Math, Physics, or related field.
  • Ability to diagnose & root cause arbitrary & complex networking or routing failures in multi hop networks
  • Read packet captures and use Wireshark/tcpdump for debugging
  • End-to-end testing of unicast and multicast data flows
  • Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/UDP, sockets, MTU, multicast, TLS/mTLS
  • Experience with timing protocols (NTP and PTP)
  • CCNA or equivalent exp.
  • Comfort in a Linux environment
  • Experience with systemd
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Experience with Git & GitHub
  • 2-3+ years in C++, Rust, or equivalent
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
  • Eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Own cradle-to-grave distributed mission software.
  • Develop messaging, orchestration, and networking backbone for AD&S systems.
  • Coordinate fleets of vehicles and task mission payloads in the field.
  • Design and test live operations and large-scale fleet management capabilities.
  • Collaborate across teams to integrate with Lattice OS and verify end-to-end reliability

ABOUT THE TEAM

Air Dominance & Strike (AD&S) is responsible for autonomous robotics systems like the Fury unmanned fighter jet and the Barracuda family of advanced effects. The AD&S Mission Systems Software team builds the distributed infrastructure that connects these vehicles to command and control. We develop the messaging, orchestration, and networking backbone that ties individual vehicles into coordinated, multi-vehicle operations. Our engineers develop the services that integrate with Lattice OS, coordinate fleets of vehicles in the field, and task and manage mission payloads and effects. We are looking for engineers excited to own from cradle-to-grave resilient, distributed mission software that supports the full range of AD&S initiatives: from early concept simulation to live operations and large scale fleet management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.

Ability to diagnose & root cause arbitrary & complex networking or routing failures in multi hop networks

Ability to read packet captures and use standard network debugging tools (tcpdump, Wireshark, etc.)

Experience with end to end testing of both unicast and multicast data flows

Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/UDP, socket programming, MTU, multicast, TLS/mTLS

Experience utilizing timing protocols such as NTP and PTP

CCNA or equivalent exp.

A high comfort working in a Linux environment

Experience with systemd

Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration

Experience with Git & GitHub

2-3+ years of experience using C++, Rust, or equivalent mid-level language

Travel up to 30% of time to build, test, and deploy capabilities in the real world

  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Track record of high ownership and bias for action

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience building or maintaining distributed systems (message buses, RPC frameworks, consensus protocols, or similar)

Familiarity with asynchronous programming models (async/await, event loops, futures)

Comfort working with Protocol Buffers and/or gRPC

Experience with Linux’s FRR package

Active Secret U.S. security clearance

US Salary Range

$166,000 - $220,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
