Qualifications

This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. It is an unaccompanied position (no family accommodations or pets). Benefits of this unique location include free housing, three meals a day and potential for overseas tax incentives.

Essential Functions
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, optimization, upgrades, maintenance, and repair of RF radios, transmission lines, & antennas.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, soldering, maintenance, and repair operations on a variety of electronic equipment, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
  • Operate TMDE in the maintenance and evaluation of assigned equipment to include multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF and fiber optic power meters, communications test sets, TDRs, fiber optic light sources, and fiber optic diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on communications and equipment and systems in accordance with applicable system technical orders and other applicable technical documentation.
  • Perform fiber Optic installation, termination, repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure safe working conditions to include ensuring all required safety training is current, conducting safety stand downs and safety planning for hazardous activities.
  • Interact with other RGNext, Range contractor sections and external customers to ensure successful communications support of mission activities.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of tagged property items and maintain adequate bench stock and spare equipment.
  • Update and/or create SOPs, instructions, checklists, training plans, and circuit drawings.
  • Perform other duties as needed such as but not limited to organize files, conduct training, clean and perform preventative corrosion on fiber truck.
Required Skills
  • Proficient technical experience installing, operating, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic and communications equipment including:
    1. UHF/VHF/HF Radio Systems including antennas and Handheld Radio Programming.
    2. Electronic test equipment (i.e. SWR meters, spectrum analyzer, oscilloscopes, power supply, TDRs, etc.).
  • Ability to read schematics, diagrams, manufacturers service manuals, and other technical documentation.
  • Ability to train others on radio and electronics troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to learn fiber optic install, terminations, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Basic PC operation.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics, communications or related field or Technical School or military experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Eight (8) years' experience in communications and Radio Systems.
  • Commercial or military training in communications theory and operation desired.
  • Formal on-the-job training as a Communications Technician or related field desired.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Garrison, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • This position is unaccompanied.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
