Job summary

KBR in Colorado Springs seeks a Mission Protection Engineer to support Space Operations Command and STARCOM missions. You will identify threats, analyze space domain awareness, and coordinate with external organizations to protect mission attributes.

The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with SAP/SAR eligibility and 8+ years in space operations or intelligence. Proficiency with STK and strong briefing/writing skills are essential. Location: Schriever SFB, CO.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with SAP/SAR eligibility on day 1.
  • 8+ years of space operations and/or Intelligence experience.
  • Experience with Satellite Tool Kit (STK) used for mission analysis and briefing.
  • Advanced briefing and writing skills.
  • Counter‑intelligence polygraph preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new and evolving threats for space-based capabilities.
  • Analyze denial/deception and perception management techniques.
  • Monitor space assets to support domain awareness.
  • Coordinate with governmental and international space observers and partners.
  • Develop procedures to mitigate mission attribute compromise.
  • Use STK to create scenarios for pre/post mission analysis and briefings.
  • Prepare engagement assessments on detection, attribution, risk, and mission effectiveness.

Job description

Title: Mission Protection Engineer KBR is seeking highly motivated candidates to fill a Mission Protection Engineer position in Colorado Springs. This position supports Space Operations Command's Delta 9, and STARCOM's Delta 12 Operational and Test missions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identifying new and evolving threats for current and future space-based capabilities.
  • Analyzing denial/deception and Perception Management technique.
  • Monitoring foreign and domestic space assets to aid in operational and tactical space domain awareness.
  • Monitoring foreign and domestic space domain awareness capabilities (i.e Governmental Satellite Observers, Blue Force, Non-Governmental Satellite Observers, and International Space Observer Network).
  • Protecting the sensitive aspects of missions and/or space system capabilities through the analysis of intelligence data and coordination with external organizations.
  • Developing, managing, and implementing procedures to mitigate compromise of mission attributes.
  • Developing findings and recommendations using orbital analysis tools like Satellite Tool Kit (STK) to create scenarios for pre/post mission analysis and briefings.
  • Developing Pre/Post engagement assessments for: Probability of Detection Probability of Attribution Risk Mission Effectiveness Coordinating Periodic Signature Measurement Campaigns (RF/Radar/Optical measurement/analysis).
Qualifications:
  • An active TS/SCI clearance with SAP/SAR eligibility on day 1
  • 8+ years of space operations experience and/or Intelligence experience (with emphasis on space/space systems).
  • Additional space operations / orbital warfare experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft tools.
  • Advanced briefing and writing skills.
  • Ability to analyze both open-source information and Intelligence Community reporting and studies (NSA Pulse, CIA WIRE, NASIC, DIA).
  • Experience with Satellite Tool Kit used to create scenarios for pre/post mission analysis and briefings.
  • BS in a technical/analytical field preferred.
  • Previous Special Access Program experience desired.
  • Counter‑intelligence polygraph preferred.
Work Environment:

Location: Schriever SFB, CO

Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%

Working Hours: Standard Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40hrs

Basic Compensation: $125,000 - $135,000

This range is for Colorado only. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
