The Mission Logistics Specialist – Advanced Robotics provides part-time / hybrid remote/onsite logistics, inventory, maintenance, and program coordination support for advanced robotic systems used in U.S. Army missile demilitarization and research activities. Supporting the U.S. Army DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center (AvMC) Fires Directorate (TDD), this position plays a critical role in ensuring mission readiness by managing spare parts inventories, coordinating maintenance activities, supporting procurement efforts, and maintaining operational readiness of specialized robotic systems operating at Anniston Munitions Center (ANMC). Working alongside government engineers, technicians, and research personnel, the Mission Logistics Specialist serves as the logistics focal point for a highly specialized team responsible for the safe disassembly and demilitarization of missile systems, subsystems, and/or other energetics. Success in this role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate across engineering, maintenance, procurement, and production organizations. Projects are executed in Army Depot / Munitions Center environments supporting national defense missions. The Mission Logistics Specialist ensures critical replacement parts, maintenance schedules, certifications, contracts, and inventory systems remain synchronized so robotic operations continue safely, efficiently, and in support of mission objectives.

Location

This position supports the U.S. Army DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center Technology Development Directorate at the Anniston Munitions Center (ANMC) in Anniston, Alabama.

Work environments include industrial facilities, robotics laboratories, missile demilitarization facilities, storage locations, and production areas supporting the safe disassembly of missile systems and energetic materials.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid Remote/Onsite

Schedule: Part-Time (average of approximately 24 hours per week: 2 days onsite & 1 day remote)

Travel: Up to 10% as required by mission requirements.

Job Description

The Mission Logistics Specialist provides logistics, inventory management, maintenance coordination, procurement support, and program administration for advanced robotic systems supporting U.S. Army missile demilitarization efforts.

This position serves as the primary coordinator for spare parts management, maintenance planning, vendor coordination, inventory accountability, and logistics activities supporting robotic systems used in the disassembly and demilitarization of missile systems and energetic materials. The Mission Logistics Specialist works closely with engineers, technicians, production planners, contractors, and government personnel to ensure critical robotic systems remain fully operational and mission-ready.

The position also supports budget planning, contract administration, certification management, and technical coordination activities that enable continued research, development, testing, and operational support for missile demilitarization programs.

Inventory & Spare Parts Management

The Mission Logistics Specialist manages spare parts inventories supporting robotic systems and associated equipment used throughout missile demilitarization operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting market research and procuring replacement parts, consumables, and maintenance materials.
• Maintaining inventory accountability for robotic system spare parts and maintenance components.
• Monitoring inventory levels to ensure adequate stock is maintained while minimizing excess inventory.
• Maintaining master inventory and Excel tracking systems.
• Receiving, inspecting, reconciling, and documenting incoming materials.
• Coordinating inventory movements between storage locations and production personnel.
• Identifying technically acceptable replacement parts for obsolete or discontinued components.

Maintenance Planning & Coordination

The Mission Logistics Specialist coordinates preventative and corrective maintenance activities supporting mission-critical robotic systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing maintenance schedules for robotic systems and supporting equipment.
• Coordinating maintenance activities with government personnel, vendors, and contractors.
• Tracking maintenance history and documenting completed maintenance actions.
• Coordinating vendor service visits and repair activities.
• Supporting long-term sustainment planning for robotic systems.
• Monitoring maintenance contracts and associated funding requirements.

The Mission Logistics Specialist coordinates procurement activities supporting robotics operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing procurement requests for maintenance parts, tooling, consumables, and support equipment.
• Coordinating with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
• Monitoring supplier performance and delivery schedules.
• Coordinating with production planners to ensure materials are available when required.

Program & Administrative Support

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing annual budget requests supporting maintenance, contracts, and spare parts.
• Maintaining program documentation supporting logistics and maintenance operations.
• Validating contractor labor charges and contract actions supporting robotics programs.
• Supporting meetings with Department of Defense personnel, contractors, and program stakeholders.
• Preparing reports, presentations, and logistics documentation supporting program management.

Technical & Operational Support

Responsibilities include:

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Supporting fabrication of tooling, jigs, and fixtures that improve safety and operational efficiency.
• Assisting with implementation of automated processes supporting robotics operations.
• Coordinating certification and training activities required by Anniston Munitions Center, including STAUBLI Robot User and Maintainer Certification, FANUC User Certification, Qualified Electrical Worker training, and other required certifications.
• Supporting continuous process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and mission effectiveness.
• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree with 0–8+ years of relevant experience OR
• Associate of Science degree with 2–10+ years of relevant experience OR
• High school diploma or equivalent with 5–12+ years of relevant experience.
• Must be mechanically inclined and able to communicate effectively, both written and orally, with mechanical engineers and technicians regarding component failures.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be willing and able to work safely around hazardous propellants, explosives, and energetic materials.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certifications required for ammunition and explosives handling and/or respirator certification, if required.
• Ability to work safely in Army Depot / Munition Center environments.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and database software.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Although not anticipated, willingness to travel up to 10% to include day trips to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, if required.
• Willingness to work an average of 24 hours per week, approximately two days onsite and one day remote, with ability to flex schedule based on program requirements.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Active U.S. Secret or higher Security Clearance.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense logistics, sustainment, or maintenance programs.
• Experience with missile systems or missile subsystem demilitarization.
• Experience managing spare parts inventories and maintenance programs.
• Familiarity with robotics, automation systems, or industrial equipment.
• Experience working with Army customers.
• Knowledge of combustion, explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics, or energetic materials.
• Experience supporting fabrication or manufacturing operations.
• Experience with subtractive manufacturing.
• Familiarity with the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).
• Experience supporting research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) programs.
