Job summary

YETI Coolers, LLC is seeking a Mission Industrial Designer to lead load carriage product design from concept through production. You will translate mission requirements, user insights, and strategy into durable, high-performing gear.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, strong soft goods knowledge, and collaboration with Design Engineers, PMs, and manufacturing partners across global supply chains. Occasional international travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years designing and developing commercial soft goods, backpacks, load carriage systems.
• Ability to travel internationally ~1x per year.
• Strong storytelling through 2D sketching and 3D modeling.
• Experience with pattern creation and production-ready documentation.
• Proven capability to translate user insights into durable, functional solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead design through all phases of design and development, from concept to commercialization.
• Translate end-user insights and product strategy into load carriage solutions.
• Develop patterns, prototypes, BOMs, material specs, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers, PMs, and Development teams to meet performance and manufacturability goals.
• Coordinate material sourcing, testing, and evaluation of new fabrics and hardware.
• Mentor cross-functional teams and communicate design rationale effectively.
