Job summary

Rocket Lab USA is hiring a Flight Analysis Engineer II - Mission Formulation to lead trajectory design and analysis for launches with the GLS Mission Formulation Team from our Denver, CO office. You will interface with engineering, production and operations to develop mission concepts and ensure safety through HITL and analyses.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and experience with Python, Linux, and Git.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical).
• Experience with numerical modelling & simulation and statistics.
• Experience with data analysis using Python, SciPy, or similar.
• Experience developing with Linux.
• Fundamental knowledge of atmospheric flight, flight dynamics, or orbital mechanics.
• Experience with Git version control (e.g., git, github, gitlab).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD US Government Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Launch and mission operational concept development.
• Orbital and suborbital trajectory design and analysis.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders for mission-specific requirements engineering.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop testing to verify trajectory and safety configurations.
• Conduct Monte Carlo simulations to verify launch and mission operations.
• Develop mission safety rules and verify readiness of flight termination system hardware/software.
• Directcontact to Business Development for proposals and mission definition.
