Job summary

Rocket Lab in Denver, CO seeks a Flight Analysis Engineer II to join the GLS Mission Formulation team. You will perform trajectory design and analysis, support mission requirements, and help ensure safety for Electron and HASTE launches. You’ll develop tools and interface with stakeholders across engineering and operations.

This role offers competitive base pay plus equity. Demonstrated Python, Linux, and Git experience are required, with security clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience with numerical modelling & simulation, probability & statistics, multi-physics, and/or similar fields of analysis.
  • Experience with data analysis using Python, SciPy, or similar.
  • Experience developing with Linux.
  • Fundamental knowledge of atmospheric flight, flight dynamics, and/or orbital mechanics.
  • Experience with Git version control (e.g., git, github, gitlab).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD US Government Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Launch and mission operational concept development.
  • Orbital and suborbital trajectory design and analysis.
  • Engage external stakeholders for mission requirements engineering.
  • Support HITL testing to verify trajectory and flight safety configuration.
  • Perform Monte Carlo simulations to verify launch and mission operations.
  • Conduct flight safety analyses prior to launch and support day-of-launch.
  • Develop bespoke mission safety rules.
  • Verify readiness of AFTS hardware and software.
  • Develop tools to automate modelling and analysis tasks.
  • Collaborate with Business Development for proposals and mission definition.
