Job summary

SAIC seeks a Mission Engineering Lead in Chantilly, VA to support SDA T3PI. The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance and extensive DoD/NRO experience across space and ground segments. You will lead a diverse team and drive system-level analyses, simulations, and risk mitigation.

Ideal candidates bring strong modeling and mission analysis skills, SB/MBSE tool proficiency, and proven collaboration with government and industry partners. On-site work in the Chantilly area is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Math, Science or Engineering with extensive DoD/NRO program experience.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • OPIR or missile defense/space ISR experience.
  • Experience coordinating across space and ground segments for end-to-end performance.
  • Strong modeling, simulation, and mission analysis skills.
  • Proven engagement with SDA/DoD/NRO customers in acquisition environments.

Description

Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated professionals who assist the Space Development Agency in developing and deploying the next generation of satellites and ground systems for missile warning (MW), missile tracking (MT) and missile defense (MD).

SAIC is seeking an experienced Mission Engineering Lead to support the Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 3 Program Integration (T3PI) program. This position requires an active TS/SCI security clearance. Desired physical location is onsite in the Chantilly, VA area.

Responsibilities
  • Lead T3PI’s mission engineering team by providing clear direction, defining priorities, and establishing a comprehensive plan(s) to ensure delivery of high-quality, timely outputs that meet customer expectations

  • Provide the strategic vision and roadmap for evaluating system level performance, which includes developing scenarios (GRM/DRMs, threads, and use cases) and simulations to support capability assessments (MVC), risk assessments, and other mission-level assessments

  • Coordinate the execution of complex analyses performed by multiple stakeholder organizations; identifying risks to delivery and proposing mitigation approaches as required

  • Oversee execution of design compliance and verification processes to ensure technical solutions meet enterprise-level requirements, standards, and performance objectives while identifying and mitigating potential risks.

  • Develop and brief data packages that provide assessment & analysis results to inform the government decision-makers.

  • Collaborate with prime contractors, other team contractors, government civilians, FFRDC, SETA and members of the SDA.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Math, Science or Engineering and eighteen (18) years or more of demonstrated system engineering and integration experience with space, ground, operations and sustainment segments of DoD or NRO programs with a proven delivery record; or Masters in Math, Science or Engineering and sixteen (16) years or more of demonstrated experience
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) or other missile defense or related space-based ISR mission experience
  • Experience working across space and ground segment organizations to coordinate and identify system requirements that ensure end-to-end mission performance requirements are met
  • Strong understanding of modeling, simulation, and mission analysis techniques and tools
  • Demonstrated experience working with SDA/DoD/NRO customers in an acquisition environment, with space and/or ground systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with MATLAB, STK, MODTRAN or other comparable modeling and simulation tools
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience using Cameo or other comparable tools
  • Space Operations Experience

Target salary range: $240,001 - $280,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
