Job summary

Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City invites applications for a Senior Staff Accountant. Reporting to the Controller, this role leads the full billing-to-cash cycle, including student billing, cash receipts, payment application, and reconciliations.

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in GAAP and nonprofit accounting, highly accurate, and capable of supporting month-end close, budgeting, audits, and financial reporting in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
• 3–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and non-profit accounting.
• Experience with nonprofit financial reporting and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Manage the accounts receivable and student billing process.
• Process cash receipts and payment application.
• Perform month-end close and journal entries.
• Prepare financial reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Support audits and budget activities.
