Job summary

A nonprofit organization in Southern Colorado is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations and ensure the sustainability of its mission-driven programs. The CFO will supervise accounting operations, manage complex budgets, and oversee compliance and audits. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in nonprofit finance and strong leadership skills. Competitive compensation and a great community atmosphere are offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of senior financial leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit or human services environment.
• Proven ability to manage complex budgets and audits.
• High integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to ethical financial stewardship.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day accounting operations.
• Analyze and present accurate financial reports to executive leadership.
• Lead annual budgeting and financial planning.
• Ensure timely month- and year-end close processes.
• Coordinate and manage external/internal audits.

Skills

Strong leadership and supervisory experience

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Deep knowledge of Medicaid billing

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Expertise in nonprofit fund accounting

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field

Master’s or CPA preferred
