Job summary

Rackner is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to build, integrate, and operationalize AI capabilities supporting a high‑impact federal mission in Dayton, OH. You will work across the AI lifecycle from model development and evaluation through software integration, AI services, and user enablement.

This role offers broad ownership, collaboration with mission teams, and opportunities to shape technical approaches as AI moves from experimentation to secure, scalable mission use.

Qualifications

• Hands-on foundation in applied ML/AI engineering beyond notebooks.
• Proficiency with Python and major ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience across AI lifecycle: model development, integration, and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Build and evaluate ML, DL, and GenAI solutions for mission use cases.
• Develop and integrate AI/ML capabilities across software, APIs, services, and data pipelines.
• Assess models and data for feasibility, access, and mission value.
• Enable GenAI capabilities through repeatable workflows, interfaces, services, and access controls.
• Prepare and curate datasets for training, evaluation, testing, and AI workflows.
• Translate prototypes into usable capabilities addressing performance, scalability, and deployment.
• Develop interfaces and services for interacting with AI/ML capabilities and metadata.
• Collaborate with software, data, leadership, product stakeholders, and SMEs.
• Create technical documentation, runbooks, and repeatable processes for adoption.
• Evaluate deployed capabilities using user feedback to improve utility.
